Our summer internship program at HFL cultivates future engineering professionals, looking to gain hands-on, real-world experience to enhance their education and professional skills. It's an opportunity for students to get to know us and for us to learn about them.
What You'll Get:
- Real-world application of engineering & design concepts - thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluids, power distribution, lighting, hydrology, surveying and structures
- Hands-on experience with BIM/3D Modeling and building systems design.
- Opportunities to work on real-life projects with top-notch clients.
- Valuable experience with Revit, AutoCAD, BIM
360, Civil 3D, and other software tools. - Mentoring opportunities to work with and be a part of multi-discipline engineering teams.
- Networking opportunities with experienced and well recognized engineering staff.
- Support a variety of engineering, drafting and design tasks related to various types of building-systems, structures and land development / site layout.
- Learn and utilize basic principles of MEP design, focused in HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Protection systems, and Civil / Structural design.
- Introduced to leading edge software applications, including BIM
360, Revit, AutoCAD and Civil 3D. - Coordinate designs with multiple-disciplinary project teams.
- Travel to project sites and assist with existing condition surveys and other studies.
- Enrolled in an accredited Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering program.
- Knowledge of 2D and 3D modeling, including AutoCAD and Revit.
- Proficiency with basic computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Academic coursework that is relevant to building systems is preferred.
- Self-motivated with strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- A strong interest and desire to learn building systems design and construction.
- Prior internship experience is preferred, but not required.
