Facilities Engineer

As a Facilities Engineer at the American National Red Cross, you will ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of buildings and critical infrastructure supporting humanitarian services. Working within Facilities, Maintenance & Asset Management, you will manage HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems; coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance; support disaster-readiness of facilities; and oversee vendors and small capital projects. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve energy efficiency, space utilization, and regulatory compliance while upholding our mission-driven, compassionate culture.

Responsibilities

• Manage operation and maintenance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems across assigned facilities.
• Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance plans using asset management/CMMS tools.
• Support disaster-readiness of facilities, ensuring building systems can sustain emergency and blood-service operations.
• Oversee vendors and contractors, including scoping, bidding, scheduling, and quality control of maintenance and small capital projects.
• Monitor building performance, energy use, and equipment reliability; recommend improvements to reduce costs and downtime.
• Ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental, and building codes, as well as Red Cross policies and standards.
• Respond to critical building issues and system alarms, providing on call support as needed for mission operations.
• Collaborate with operations, IT, and program teams to optimize space utilization and support changing mission needs.
• Maintain accurate documentation, drawings, asset records, and maintenance histories for inspections and audits.
• Contribute to a culture of safety, collaboration, and humanitarian service aligned with the Red Cross mission.
