The Fairview Energy Center is among the world's most advanced natural gas combined cycle power plants. It features GE's Frame 7HA.02 Gas Turbines in conjunction with a GE Steam Turbine. In 2020, the facility received recognition as Power Magazine's Top U.S. Facility. Situated approximately 8 miles north of Johnstown and 87 miles east of Pittsburgh, the plant is nestled in the Laurel Highlands, known for its hardwood forests, pristine trout streams, and thriving whitetail deer population.
Opportunity Summary
The Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Technician at the Fairview Energy Center operates, troubleshoots, and maintains all mechanical, I/C, and electrical equipment, including combined-cycle combustion turbines, HRSGs, and major auxiliary systems, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance. The technician monitors critical operational parameters, performs inspections and repairs, maintains precise logs, and collaborates with team members to drive optimal performance while upholding strict safety and environmental standards.
Additionally, the technician advances preventive maintenance programs, mentors, and develops staff, manages work orders through the CMMS, supports budget control, and contributes to the continuous improvement of plant procedures.
Your scope of responsibility as O&M Technician will include the following primary functions:
- Conduct startup, shutdown, and routine operation of power plant systems, including combined-cycle combustion turbines and HRSGs.
- Operate major auxiliary systems, such as air compressors, demineralized water systems, generator cooling systems, steam turbines, condensers, and locally controlled electrical and mechanical equipment, to ensure smooth facility operation.
- Conduct operating tests, inspections, and minor repairs on assigned equipment to ensure proper functioning and prevent downtime.
- Operate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all mechanical, I/C, and electrical equipment to support plant operations and maximize shareholder value.
- Prepare equipment for service according to operating procedures and safety protocols, maintaining a safe working environment.
- Monitor and record operational parameters, such as equipment temperature, vibration, hours of operation, pressure, and fluid levels, using meters, gauges, or automatic devices to verify optimal conditions and identify potential issues.
- Maintain accurate logs documenting operational activities, equipment status, and any abnormalities.
- Promptly report abnormal or irregular conditions and take corrective actions within prescribed guidelines to prevent equipment damage or operational hazards.
- Collaborate with team members to implement changes in plant conditions and chemistry.
- Train and develop employees in preventive maintenance and routine equipment service activities, applying situational leadership and promoting environmental and safety stewardship.
- Support the revision, training, and implementation of operating procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the O&M Manager or designee.
- Use the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to manage work orders and control spare parts inventory.
- Assist in budget planning and cost control.
- Ensure all work is completed correctly the first time, meeting both customer and co-worker expectations.
- Fulfill other tasks as assigned by the Operations Manager or designee, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of plant operations.

Working Relationships
The O&M Technician reports to the Operations and Maintenance Manager and takes general direction from other plant management. Additionally, this position will coordinate with all other plant personnel to ensure safe and reliable plant operations.
