Financial Support Specialist (Temporary) Position Summary

The Financial Support Specialist provides administrative and financial transaction support to the Centralized Financial Services Division within the Finance Department. This position assists with invoice processing, data entry, customer service, payment tracking, and general financial administrative support for County departments and vendors.

This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or individuals with administrative, customer service, bookkeeping, accounts payable, banking, or office support experience who are interested in developing a career in finance or government operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enter and review invoices within the County's financial system.
  • Match and verify supporting documentation and scanned records.
  • Reconcile processed transactions and maintain accurate records.
  • Respond to inquiries from County departments regarding payment status and processing.
  • Assist vendors with payment-related questions and provide excellent customer service.
  • Run reports and communicate with departments regarding outstanding payments.
  • Perform data entry, record maintenance, and other administrative support duties.
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • One to two years of office, administrative, customer service, accounting support, banking, or related experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work accurately with data and financial information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and establish positive working relationships.
Assignment Details
  • Temporary full‑time assignment.
  • Onsite position located in Waukegan, Illinois.
  • Immediate start preferred.
  • Assignment anticipated to continue through December 31, 2026.
Compensation
  • $24.00 – $26.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
Hourly Wage and Selection Process
