Telecommunications Operator

Job Summary

Answers and executes incoming, outgoing, and inter-hospital telephone calls on attendant console in a polite and professional manner. Acts in a responsible manner and takes ownership of solving problems.

• Operate attendant console, answering and executing all incoming, outgoing and inter-hospital telephone calls.
• Monitor and document any equipment or trunk problems and notify IT.
• Monitor and relay any alarms, fire, oxygen, air vacuum, OR freezers, blood bank, etc. to the appropriate department.
• Document all alarms, equipment malfunctions, Home Care on‑call activity, Administration on‑call notifications, etc., and relay situations to the appropriate department.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of all hospital emergency procedures and coordinate communications during telephone system failures, fire alarms, and disasters.
• Operate PC for patient location through computer software program.
• Help train new staff.
• Takes action to resolve problems and communicates with management.
• Operate Cyracom and TTY phone services. Document on addendum age‑specific competency.
• Complete projects and assignments within projected time frames and expectations.

General office duties. Requires the ability to withstand long periods of sitting. The position may involve monitoring equipment, and responding to alarms and emergency communications.

Participates in activities which support the mission of the hospital.

• High School Diploma or GED required;
  Associate Degree preferred.
• At least two years of experience in telecommunications.
• Good communication skills.
