Position Title
Healthcare Pathway Peer Tutor, Internship
StatusPart time. May work up to 20 hours per week during fall and spring semesters; up to 28 hours per week during summer and holiday breaks with supervisor approval.

EssentialJob Duties And
Key Responsibilities
- Represent Joliet Junior College professionally and uphold the College’s core values.
- Tutor students using individual and small group sessions in Nursing and Pharmacology.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of tutoring activities.
- Distribute flyers and promote tutoring services within departments and classrooms.
- Select instructional support materials with coordinators, addressing individual student needs.
- Participate in staff meetings, in‑services, and trainings as required.
- Assist with receptionist duties and light office work (keeping the CASH Center neat, running errands, preparing materials, filing, photocopying).
- Assist in promoting and coordinating programs and events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completed at least one semester of college‑level courses with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Enrolled at JJC in at least 6 credit hours.
- Current student in one of JJC’s healthcare programs.
- Received an A or B in the subject area to be tutored; preference given to those who have completed three or more courses in that area.
- Ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week.
- Approval from Cash Manager.
- One faculty reference.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Effective communication with students and faculty.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA guidelines.
- Patience, problem‑solving skills, and willingness to accept responsibility.
- Two or more faculty references.
- Previous work experience.
- Ability to work in the CASH Center for at least one full academic year.
Normal office physical demands.
Working ConditionsDuties performed indoors in the usual office and/or outdoor environment.
Work Schedule- Varies by semester – several interns hired each semester.
- Scheduled weekly hours up to 20 hours per week during fall and spring; up to 28 hours during summer and holiday breaks with supervisor approval.
