Support the Office of Student Activities staff with customer service, hosting events, marketing, and office tasks.

MINIMIUM PAY RATE: $15.00 per hour

(Position is FWS Eligible)

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, faculty, and community members who visit the Office of Student Activities, through greetings, answering questions, and taking messages.

* Assist with hosting OSA sponsored events, in-person and virtually. Tasks may include, but are not limited to, assisting with event preparation, set-up, clean-up, decorating, food set-up and serving, checking-in students, working the popcorn machine, moving equipment and supplies, and other tasks as assigned.

* Maintain campus posting boards, bulletin boards, banners, and literature racks by designing, creating, cleaning, and updating posting areas.

* Design marketing for OSA events including flyers, brochures, banners, bulletin boards, monthly calendars, and free-standing signs. These efforts include, but are not limited to, print media, digital media, handwritten signs, social media, videos, personal outreach, and other creative marketing efforts.

* Wearing the JJC Mascot for OSA and campus events.

* Support OSA staff with office duties including department errands, filing, making copies, maintaining resources, organizing, and other related tasks.

* Work evening and weekend events when requested. Specifically, November through March to assist with Comfort Zones held on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday nights between 4pm and 6pm. Hours and days will vary.

* Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. GPA of 2.0 or above.

2. Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours in the fall/spring semester toward your declared major at JJC.

3. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

4. Ability to take personal initiative and work as a team player.

5. Personable, respectful, responsible, and creative.

6. Familiar with Microsoft Office applications.

7. Comfortable creating content using Canva

8. Familiar with Social Media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat.

9. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Experienced with publishing software (Publisher, Canva and Photoshop preferred).

2. Knowledge of college resources.

3. Ability to write legibly.

4. Ability to work on various JJC campuses (Main Campus, Romeoville Campus, City Center Campus).

5. English, Spanish and/or other languages verbal and written communication proficiency.

6. Demonstrated multicultural competence.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Moving throughout campus, walking and standing for periods of time.

Lifting and moving supplies up to 30 pounds.

Climbing on ladders on occasion is also required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

* In-office and in-person events, events are held both inside and outside.

* Position is primarily based at one campus, with occasional work at other locations as needed.

OSA Mission:
The Office of Student Activities strives to provide opportunities for students to discover, practice, and develop their personal and professional skill sets through campus involvement opportunities, including clubs, Student Government, leadership training, recreation programs, community engagement, and social events.

This is a student employee position that works around your class schedule. May work up to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. During summer and holiday breaks (Winter/Spring), may work up to 28 hours per week with supervisor approval.
