Jr. High Teacher - 6th Math/SCI )
Under the direct supervision of the building principal, the classroom teacher is to provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth, enabling students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Education, Experience, and License- Professional Educator License with Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Science, and Science endorsements (or required endorsement).
- Demonstrated capabilities in leadership, public and community relations, and academic competence.
- Demonstrated effective behavior management skills.
- Ability to structure a classroom to maximize student learning.
- Strong communication skills with a variety of stakeholders.
- Knowledge of course outlines, curriculum, and texts used.
- Maximum 10 years of full‑time certified teaching experience.
- Implement all district policies as they relate to the classroom.

- Develop and implement lesson plans for the assigned curriculum program.
- Present subject matter in accordance with state and district guidelines.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment reflecting differentiation and accommodations based on individual student needs.
- Use data to drive instructional decision‑making.
- Collaborate with grade‑level and content‑area teams to plan and modify curricula as needed.
- Coordinate instructional goals, objectives, and methods with staff as per state and district requirements.
- Supervise paraprofessionals, student teachers, and volunteers when applicable.
- Integrate technology actively into teaching and learning.
- Assist students in analyzing and improving study methods and habits.
- Continuously assess student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Serve as a positive role model supporting the district and school mission.
- Create an effective learning environment conducive to all students' physical, social, and emotional development.
- Manage student behavior using appropriate classroom management techniques following district requirements.
- Maintain professional competence through in‑service professional development.
- Request instructional materials and supplies as needed.
- Attend and prepare for faculty and parent‑teacher conferences and other required meetings.
- Supervise students in out‑of‑classroom activities during the school day.
- Administer group standardized tests in accordance with state and district protocols.
- Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
- Commit to ongoing professional development.
- Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing.
- Ability to compose correspondence, reports, and other required written materials.
- Reading, analytical, and interpretive skills.
- Ability to present information and respond to inquiries.
- Courtesy, tact, and respect when dealing with others.
- Basic math proficiency (whole numbers, fractions, decimals).
- Reasoning ability: interpret instructions, identify problems, collect and analyze data, draw valid conclusions.
- Maintain confidentiality and promote a harassment‑free environment.
- Establish effective working relationships; demonstrate teamwork.
- Computer & office equipment proficiency, adapting to system updates.
- Work well under pressure, balance multiple demands, and maintain professionalism.
- Extensive knowledge of district, board, state, and federal laws and policies.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Prepare and maintain accurate files and records.
- Meet strict deadlines.
Salary and benefits are provided in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the Board of School Inspectors of School District 86 and the Council #86 of the American Federation of Teachers‑Local 604.
