Position Title:
Faculty, Anthropology (Cross Over Disciplines). The role is a full‑time tenure‑track faculty position at the Social & Behavioral Sciences Department within the Arts & Sciences Division.

Position SummaryThis full‑time tenure position requires teaching, program development, and service.
Teaching load: fifteen contact hours per semester (thirty contact hours per year), with five office hours per week. Course assignments may include late afternoon, evening, Saturday, and branch campus sites.

Key Responsibilities
- Teach introductory and advanced courses in Anthropology and related cross‑over SBS disciplines.
- Work closely with other instructors and college services to determine placements, curriculum, and academic support.
- Participate in course development, assessment, accreditation, and planning activities.
- Attend departmental meetings, recruitment activities, and serve on committees.
- Provide academic advising to students when necessary.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching, learning, and the community college mission.
- Teach at other campus sites as needed.
- Meet all contractual obligations outlined in the Joliet Junior College faculty contract.
- Maintain thorough subject‑matter knowledge and stay informed of developments in related areas.
- Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and community needs.
- Implement effective teaching styles and instructional technologies to meet student needs.
- Master’s Degree in Anthropology.
- Completion of an additional 18 graduate‑level credit hours in one of the following disciplines:
Sociology, Psychology, Education, or History. - Two years of teaching experience at the college level.
- Ability to teach a range of courses in Anthropology and cross‑over disciplines.
- Familiarity with online, hybrid, and in‑person instructional methods.
- Experience in course development, assessment, planning, quality and accreditation processes, and committee service.
- Experience with traditional and non‑traditional students from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships within the college and community, displaying cultural competence and emotional intelligence.
- Demonstrated commitment to JJC's core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well‑being, innovation and quality.
- Doctorate in Sociology.
- Completion of an additional 18 graduate‑level credit hours in another Social and Behavioral Science discipline.
- English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
- Demonstrated multicultural competence.
- Proficiency in technology for teaching, such as learning management systems (e.g., Canvas).
Normal classroom physical demands.
