Position: Jr. High Teacher - 6th ELA (2026-2027)

Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the building principal, the classroom teacher is to provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth and enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Education, Experience, and/or License
  • Professional Educator License with and/or endorsement in Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Science, and Science or the required endorsement.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in leadership, public and community relations, and academic competence.
  • Effective behavior management skills.
  • Ability to structure a classroom to maximize student learning.
  • Effective communication skills with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of course outlines, curriculum, and texts used.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Implement all district policies as they relate to the classroom.
  • Guarantee that every student receives an equal opportunity for an education.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans for the assigned curriculum program.
  • Present subject matter following guidelines outlined by the state and district.
  • Plan and use instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect differentiation and accommodations based on individual student needs.
  • Use available data to drive instructional decision‑making.
  • Cooperate with grade‑level and content area teams to plan and modify curricula as needed.
  • Collaborate with staff to implement instructional goals, objectives, and methods per state and district requirements.
  • Supervise purposeful assignments for paraprofessionals, student teachers, and volunteers, if applicable.
  • Use technology actively in the teaching and learning process.
  • Assist students in analyzing and improving study methods and habits.
  • Continuously assess student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Serve as a positive role model supporting the mission of the district and school.
  • Create an effective learning environment conducive to appropriate physical, social, and emotional development.
  • Manage student behavior using classroom management techniques and district requirements.
  • Maintain professional competence through in‑service professional development opportunities.
  • Request instructional materials and supplies as required.
  • Attend all required meetings, including faculty and parent‑teacher conferences.
  • Prepare for, conduct, and attend parent‑teacher conferences as needed.
  • Supervise students during out‑of‑classroom activities during the school day.
  • Administer group standardized tests following state and district protocols.
  • Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
  • Maintain commitment to ongoing professional development.
Supervisory Role

Students are assigned to the classroom. Supervisors include paraprofessionals (if applicable), student teachers, and volunteers.

Communication Skills
  • Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely in oral and written form, using a variety of techniques and tools to ensure appropriate information flow and collaboration.
  • Compose correspondence, reports, and other required written materials.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret information.
  • Present information effectively and respond to inquiries and complaints.
  • Display courtesy, tact, and respect when dealing with others.
Mathematical Skills
  • Perform basic math using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals consistent with the duties of this position.
Reasoning Ability
  • Interpret a variety of instructions and information furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
  • Identify and define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
