Role Overview
Position:
Long Term Substitute Teacher – English, Building:
Glenbard North.
Salary & Benefits:
LTS rate $300 per 7.25‑hour day, includes grading and plan/prep/GS/Collab. Term: 11/07/2026 to 02/21/2027 (anticipated). License required:
Professional Educator License registered in DuPage County and endorsement for high‑school level in the identified subject area.
- Instruct students based on subject‑ or level‑specific curriculum; grade assignments and maintain attendance.
- Supplement lesson plans utilizing interactive technology as appropriate.
- Supervise and ensure safety of students during classroom hours.
- Meet regularly with Department Chair and seek mentoring from departmental staff.
- Maintain the highest ethical and professional demeanor with students and staff, consistent with district policies.
- Participate in parent‑teacher conferences and/or school‑sponsored professional development as needed.
- Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
- Maintain student confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Professional educator's license in the specified subject area.
- Knowledge of best practices supporting all students' learning ability.
- Strong communication skills.
- Honors or AP experience preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as correspondence, surveys, and electronic media.
- Ability to write professional communications.
- Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from individuals and groups.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and community members.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in written form.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Problem‑solving skills in situations with limited standardization.
- Ability to maintain current job skills as directed, especially in technology‑related activities.
- Ability to perform essential duties with awareness of district requirements and board policies.
- Regularly sit, talk, and hear; stand, walk, operate copying machines and computer equipment; reach with hands and arms; repeat similar finger motions such as typing; adjust focus and tolerate long‑term use of video display terminals.
- May lift up to 30 pounds (reference books).
- Moderate noise level and fast pace of work tasks.
- Work primarily at one site, with occasional meetings, conferences, or workshops at other sites as assigned.
