Building Automation Technical Training Instructor About this role
Experienced Technical Training professional. Provides training to internal and external customers on a variety of Building Automation components/platforms. Responsible for updating training as necessary, and providing input to enhance Product Training performance.
Key Responsibilities- Support and maintain a comprehensive training program that covers entry‑level beginners to seasoned field experts.
- Support Field Engineers in completing and progressing through the different levels of the ALC Field Engineer certification program.
- Work collaboratively with ALC factory to identify and prioritize new training classes. Schedule time each quarter to work on training development with ALC factory. Attend the annual ALC factory training summit and tech update seminars as needed.
- Keep current with advancements in the Building Automation Systems industry as well as the training field. Participate in industry and professional organizations to learn and incorporate best practices, and to develop professionally.
- Attend ALC factory best‑practice training courses in Kennesaw, GA for new products, and obtain teaching certification for those courses.
- Collaborate with other ALC field trainers to share knowledge and best practices.
- Conduct training for employees and customers at branch and customer locations.
- Maintain a database for tracking class attendees. Verify field check‑out qualifications for ALC employees.
- Plan, coordinate, schedule, and publish the calendar of training classes at local ALC branches.
- Create class handouts and documentation as needed.
- Responsible for class logistics.
- Ensure training room computers and hardware are up‑to‑date.
- Develop a list of training hardware/software needs and provide it to management for inclusion in the annual budget.
- Manage the financial aspects of training classes.
- Maintain a professional appearance and exhibit professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Complete tasks within expected timelines.
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3+ years of progressive experience in Building Automation Systems
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Ability to communicate technical information to a non‑technical audience.
- Effective communication and presentation skills
- Excellent understanding of Building Automation Systems, including strong working knowledge of Automated Logic hardware and software.
- Excellent understanding of the operation and control of mechanical equipment and their control sequences.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and other Windows products.
- Travel requirements: 20%, including air and overnight travel.
