Position PurposeUnder the direct supervision of licensed staff members, the Instructional Assistant will assist licensed professional staff in meeting instructional goals and objectives that have been developed for each child.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Serve as a positive role model of the Catholic faith in words, deeds, demeanor, dress, and actions both within and outside the classroom.
- Understand and adhere to all tenets of the Roman Catholic Church.
- Accompany students on field trips for supervisory purposes.
- Construct, copy, distribute and use educational materials as directed by the teacher.
- Follow all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students, including those with disabilities or other special needs.
- Carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
- Perform arithmetic operations as needed to assist students.
- Use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel).
- Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.
- Report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.
- Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Consistently report to work on days and at times established by the school Principal.
- Communicate with all constituents including school administration, parish priests, colleagues, students, parents, and prospective parents.
- Use standard office equipment such as SMART boards, personal computers, telephones, and copiers.
- Perform other related tasks assigned by the principal.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework in health care, child development, or a related field preferred.
- Current certification in First Aid and CPR/AED required.
- Previous experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, or health-related setting preferred.
- Knowledge of basic first‑aid procedures and ability to respond to minor injuries and illnesses.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with students, parents, and staff.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and handle confidential student information in accordance with district policies.
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm, organized, and professional in a fast‑paced environment.
- Work in a standard school building environment.
- Work outdoors during student activities.
- Regularly talk or hear while performing duties.
- Stand, walk, use hands to handle items, and reach with hands and arms.
- Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
- Walk up and down multiple flights of stairs regularly.
- Lift up to 20–30 pounds if needed.
$15.00 – $23.00 (final hourly rate will be determined at the local level reflecting years of experience, education, and licensure).
