Per Diem Special Education Para Professional in Joliet, IL

Make a meaningful contribution as an Instructional Aide Substitute, supporting students in Chicago area schools with per diem, as-needed opportunities. This flexible role allows you to help students succeed academically, behaviorally, and socially in classroom settings while adapting your work schedule to your availability.

• Provide academic and behavioral assistance to students in general and special education classrooms
• Deliver one-on-one or small group support under teacher or school staff direction
• Assist students with daily routines, classroom transitions, and participation
• Implement behavior support plans and follow Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) as directed
• Offer support for mobility, supervision, and personal care needs as needed
• Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom atmosphere

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum 18 years of age
• PEL (Paraprofessional Educator License) required
• TB test completed per district guidelines
• Physically able to stand, walk, and assist with lifting
• Current clearances or willingness to complete prior to beginning assignments

• Background in schools, special education, behavioral health, or child care
• Familiarity with supporting students with special needs, autism, or behavioral challenges
• CPI, PMT, or RBT experience beneficial but not mandatory
• Dependable, patient, and collaborative in a team environment
