Description

Responsible for working with License Exempt (LE) Child Care Programs for completion of Health, Safety, and Child Development training requirements and annual monitoring visits by the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain a current listing of LE Child Care Providers who receive payment through the IDHS Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP), including the status of required trainings.
  • Contact LE Providers to schedule and conduct onsite monitoring visits annually.
  • Review and confirm that required training has been completed and that health and safety practices are being implemented.
  • Accurately complete and maintain monitoring documentation as provided by IDHS.
  • Identify health and safety violations in LE child care settings and, as needed, develop corrective action plans and schedule follow-up visits to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with the LE provider community to improve the quality of care delivered in child care settings.
  • Maintain files and enter LE provider information into software programs using the specified format and timeframe as outlined by the Department.
  • Report abuse/neglect and illegal child care operations as outlined by DCFS.
  • Provide ongoing outreach and TA to LE Child Care Programs, ensuring completion of required trainings.
  • Assist Child Care Resource & Referral (CCR&R) agencies with required Health, Safety, and Child Development trainings (including but not limited to registering providers, facilitating trainings, etc.)
  • Research, gather, and track data for health, safety, and child development. Conducts additional training as required by the Agency.
  • Travel within the designated Service Delivery Area (SDA
    5) is required (Grundy, Kankakee, Kendall, and Will Counties).
  • Maintains required professional knowledge and job skills. Attends and participates in professional development, meetings, conferences, and trainings, with a minimum of 15 hours annually.
  • Additional tasks as assigned.

  • Demonstrates working knowledge of policies and procedures.
  • Provides and maintains accurate reports and requested information to supervisors within required time frames.
  • Provides quality customer service to a diverse population with a broad spectrum of needs, both over the phone and in person.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in computation, communication, and writing skills.
  • Demonstrates practical organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Handles all situations professionally and maintains strong professional relationships with all Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) departments.
Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements
  • Associate's degree from an accredited college/university or equivalent education and/or experience in early childhood education, social work, customer service, data entry, or related field. Equivalents are defined as college credits and/or work hours equal to two (2) full years of education and/or full-time work.
  • Must complete Gateways to Opportunity Registry membership within 5 days of employment.
  • Complete the following trainings within 3 months of employment:
    Field Safety Training; ECE Level 1 Credential; IDCFS Child Abuse and Neglect Mandated Reporter;
    What is CCAP?;
    Shaken Baby Syndrome; and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
  • Must be able to clear a comprehensive background check, including child abuse and neglect (CANTS), Sex Offender Registry (SOR), and criminal background check via fingerprint check.
  • Must have basic communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from various educational, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds.
  • May be required to travel locally and attend occasional evening and weekend meetings.
  • May be required to carry, lift, or move equipment, materials, or supplies weighing up to 40 lbs.
