Salary Range$64,469.94 to $82,839.39
Responsibilities- Instruct, plan and monitor progress of all pupils in assigned classes under the supervision of the school principal; perform related duties as required.
- Develop written lesson plans and prepare instructional activities aligned with the program objectives; establish positive learning expectations for all pupils and maintain accurate records of pupil progress.
- Implement instructional methods and materials, apply current learning theory and teaching methodologies, participate in development and implementation of new teaching techniques, and provide classroom displays reflecting current student work.
- Demonstrate knowledge of curriculum content related to subject areas and instructional level; participate in programs to improve student attendance and promote anti-vandalism efforts.
- Establish and maintain reasonable rules of conduct within the classroom and on school grounds in line with the Chicago Public Schools Uniform Discipline Code; maintain attendance records and seating charts.
- Encourage student growth in self-discipline and positive self-concept; communicate with parents/guardians about academic progress, attendance, and conduct; initiate conferences with parents, guardians, administrators, and others as needed.
- Participate in in-service and professional meetings, use relevant information and materials, coordinate and attend class field trips, and support after-school activities as needed; utilize community resources to support instruction.
- Education and Experience:
Successful completion of all student teaching requirements and coursework necessary to obtain the appropriate teaching certificate(s) issued by the Illinois State Board of Education. - Licensing:
Possess at least one valid teaching license issued by the Illinois State Board of Education, such as Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS), properly endorsed for this position. - Knowledge, Abilities, and
Skills:
Knowledge of subject matter aligned with state certification requirements; knowledge of contemporary teaching principles and classroom management techniques. - Ability to modify instruction to meet student needs; collaborate with faculty and administration to develop and implement an articulated instructional program; work effectively with students, parents, guardians, staff, and community members; understand the diverse needs of pupils.
- Skill in applying contemporary teaching practices; strong oral and written communication, interpersonal skills, and professional judgment.
Light work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently; ability to stoop, reach, handle and finger objects, talk and hear; near and distant visual acuity as required for duties.
