4th Grade Leave Of Absence

St. Raymond School in Joliet, IL is seeking candidates for a leave of absence position in 4th grade to start the  school year. Position

Purpose:

The substitute teacher is considered a ministerial employee by their role working in a Catholic School and agree to work diligently to support and strengthen the Catholic Church and its value system. By word and example Catholic school employees support all the official religious teachings of the Catholic Church throughout their personal and professional lives. Substitute teachers agree to play a substantial role in conveying the Catholic Church's message and carrying out its mission.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The teacher will:

  • Observe strictly the Code of Professional Ethics
  • Instruct children in assigned subjects, direct and guide students learning throughout the day and adjust instructional level to meet individual student needs
  • Be present when classes are scheduled to begin and do not leave the classroom during class periods except for emergency purposes
  • Prepare weekly lesson plans aligned to Common Core Standards/Diocese of Joliet Catholic Standards which will include the daily learning targets, activities, and frequent and high-level assessments
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods to fit the individual student's needs, including students with special needs
  • Regularly provide feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations and goals
  • Integrate technology into the curriculum through instructional strategies and develop assignments and activities that require students to use technology
  • Teach and act in accordance with Catholic doctrinal and moral teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Join with the other staff members in supervising the children and maintaining discipline on the premises before, during and after school
  • Practice and promote positive interaction with and among students
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to attain a high achieving, high thinking learning atmosphere
  • Build and maintain a vibrant school culture centered on joy, respect and love
  • Value parents as important partners in the work of the school by maintaining frequent contact and inviting them in various ways to engage in their child's schooling
  • Communicate professionally with all constituents including (but not limited to): school administration, pastor, parish priests, colleagues, students, parents and prospective parents
  • Analyze student data and teach small groups based on data
  • Input daily attendance, weekly academic and behavioral data into the school data management system (FACTS)
  • Conduct Parent/Teacher/Student conferences two times per year and communicate regularly with families about academic and social concerns
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the success of our school mission
  • Participate in all faculty meetings and prescribed in-service training opportunities
  • Attend teacher institutes as stipulated by the school and the Catholic Schools Office
  • Complete Catholic Identity Formation Training and other required professional development from the Diocese of Joliet
  • Serve on committees and engage in project work outside of classroom time
  • Assume responsibility for the care of materials, equipment, and facilities
  • Maintain professional status through dress and communication
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students and general school matters
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the principal or pastor

Qualifications:

Minimum of a completed Bachelor's degree, Master's degree preferred Candidates must hold a current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or a valid out of state certificate from a state with which Illinois has reciprocity.
