Job Description
Make a positive impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting students in a rewarding school environment near Joliet, IL. Opportunities are available at both the elementary and middle school levels, offering unique classroom experiences and collaborative team settings.
At the elementary level, educators will work in a self-contained Structured Teaching and Learning Room (STLR), focusing on supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and functional communication needs. Caseloads are manageable, ranging from 10 to 13 students, ensuring quality attention and personalized support. The middle school assignment includes a co‑teaching role in Supported Education, providing instruction alongside general education teachers with a similar caseload.
Key
Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching credential/license for Illinois
- Experience supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or significant communication needs preferred
- Ability to manage and deliver individualized instruction programs
- Strong collaboration skills with educators, support staff, and families
- Passion for inclusive education and differentiated teaching
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs
- Adapt curriculum and teaching methods to foster student progress
- Provide direct instruction and support skill development in academic, behavioral, and social-emotional domains
- Collaborate with colleagues for effective co‑teaching and support
- Maintain student records and communicate progress to families and team members
