A rewarding opportunity is available for an experienced Special Education Teacher to provide in-person support in a self-contained classroom serving K-2 students with significant disabilities. This contract assignment covers a leave of absence, beginning August 11 and expected to run through September 23, with the potential to extend further. You’ll work in a collaborative environment alongside paraprofessionals, impacting the lives of four young learners as they participate in both core classes within their specialized classroom and select activities in general education settings.

Qualifications & Desired

Experience:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification (required)
• Prior experience teaching or supporting students with significant disabilities, especially at the elementary (K-2) level
• Familiarity with IEP development and implementation
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to partner effectively with paraprofessionals and general education teachers
• Ability to adapt instruction to meet multi-needs in a small-group, self-contained setting
• Passion for fostering a supportive, inclusive classroom community

Responsibilities:

• Instruct and guide a class of four students in a self-contained special education setting
• Develop and adapt lesson plans to address each student’s IEP goals
• Collaborate closely with classroom paraprofessionals and general education staff
• Create a structured, positive environment facilitating both academic and social development
• Maintain accurate records, document progress, and communicate regularly with families and support teams
