Manufacturing Engineer, Mechanical Engineer
This role is part of a site-based Asset Reliability team responsible for establishing functional expectations and ensuring the long-term reliability of all plant assets. The team is empowered and expected to drive change through improvements to equipment, processes, and procedures that advance operational excellence and reliability performance, while delivering high service levels within defined resource constraints. The engineer partners closely with Operations and Maintenance leadership to support urgent equipment evaluations and ongoing asset health.
Responsibilities include leading root cause and cause-mapping investigations, resolving pump and seal issues, executing Management of Change (MOC) activities, and providing hands-on technical support for day-to-day operations and maintenance.
- Develop, track, and maintain KPIs focused on equipment reliability and asset performance
- Own outage scope development and serve as Scope Owner during outage execution
- Support mechanical integrity programs and ensure protective systems integrity
- Assist Operations with scope development for routine and corrective maintenance work
- Complete required audits on a monthly basis
- Identify equipment “bad actors” using data-driven metrics and develop remediation plans utilizing FMEA, RCFA, PM optimization, and other reliability tools to increase MTBF, reduce cost, and extend equipment lifecycle
- Lead investigations into equipment failures and provide actionable recommendations to Maintenance
- Complete assigned compliance-related action items
- Serve as Responsible Engineer for MOCs and act as MOC Manager when required
- Prepare and deliver monthly reliability reports and summaries
- Maintain and utilize the Maintenance Operating Envelope to proactively prevent failures
- Specify equipment upgrades and execute small capital and expense projects
- Partner with Project Engineering to ensure reliability and maintainability of new or modified installations, including design input and commissioning support
- Participate in or observe supplier and repair facility testing (FAT) to evaluate reliability risks and oversee critical repairs
- Provide technical input for process optimization and operational improvement initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- Experience in a chemical or industrial manufacturing environment
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in reliability engineering and/or field engineering within a maintenance-focused setting
- Working knowledge of predictive and preventive maintenance tools and programs
- Proficiency with reliability and failure analysis methodologies including FMEA, RCFA, and MTBF
- Demonstrated ability to apply engineering fundamentals to solve complex manufacturing problems
- Familiarity with petrochemical industry best practices preferred
- Basic knowledge of PHA processes, pressure relief systems, and safety instrumented systems preferred
- Strong, demonstrated commitment to safety
- Advanced proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing, and database software
- Self-motivated with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal)
