The Impact You’ll Make in this Role:

As a Sr. Industrial Engineer at a 3M distribution center, you will drive operations excellence across our distribution centers. Your primary focus will be designing, implementing and optimizing distribution and logistics operations, driving advanced automation systems, labor management programs and continuous improvement projects. You will leverage your expertise in industrial engineering to enhance productivity, efficiency, and quality within our operations. You will work with teams across departments to develop and refine labor management programs, build engineered standards, streamline workflows, and support the deployment of automation technologies.

You will also be responsible for data analysis and process modeling to ensure operations align with industry best practices and company strategic goals. Your ability to analyze complex data, develop innovative solutions, and manage large-scale projects will be critical to meeting evolving business needs.

Responsibilities
  • Labor Management Program Implementation
    :
    Drive the development and deployment of a comprehensive labor management program, including workforce planning, productivity measurement, and labor standards to optimize workforce utilization.
  • Lead Automation Projects
    :
    Design, develop, and implement automation solutions within distribution centers to enhance operational efficiency, accuracy, and throughput.
  • Continuous Improvement Initiatives
    :
    Identify, analyze, and lead improvement projects across distribution centers, focusing on process optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency gains.
  • Data Collection and Reporting
    :
    Gather, analyze, and report on key performance metrics related to distribution center operations, providing actionable insights to drive decision-making and process improvements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    :
    Work with Operations, IT, and Supply Chain teams to ensure integration of industrial engineering solutions and alignment with business goals.
  • Financial Responsibility
    :
    Manage financial aspects of a project team, including estimating expenditures, contributing to the creation of AFE, purchasing materials and/or services, monitoring and tracking costs, and payment. Proficient in engineering, sourcing, and financial systems to stay within budget.
  • Project Management
    :
    Manage multiple projects simultaneously. Provide guidance and training to interns, new hires and other engineers. Participate in and lead teams.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in industrial/manufacturing engineering, operations research, statistics from an accredited institution.
  • Three (3) years of experience in a labor management program, engineering labor standards within a distribution or fulfillment center.
  • Three (3) years of experience in AutoCAD or similar CAD tool.
  • Three (3) years of experience in Lean Six Sigma methodology.
  • Three (3) years of experience in SQL.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Distribution automation technologies experience
  • Proficiency in SQL, analytics, simulation, and project management tools

    :
    Ability to analyze complex systems and processes, identify inefficiencies, and develop innovative engineering solutions
  • Communication and Leadership
    :
    Excellent communication skills with the ability to present ideas and influence decision-making. Strong leadership and teamwork abilities, with a track record of managing cross-functional projects
