Overview

Responsibilities
  • Analyze and modify product designs in collaboration with Design Engineering to assure manufacturability within the RTX Lifecycle Program Management System gates.
  • Design and develop manufacturing processes for products, taking into consideration problems inherent in the transfer of technology from research to manufacturing.
  • Develop procedures for economical mass production in cooperation with pilot‑plant and production departments.
  • Conduct tests and measurements throughout stages of production to determine control over applicable variables; service, troubleshoot, and solve production process problems with existing processes or equipment.
  • Review field support requirements and recommend tools and test equipment.
  • Determine maintenance and repair materials required for deployment.
  • Make recommendations concerning acquisition and use of new technological equipment and materials.
  • Provide guidance for engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Analyze designs and provide feedback and suggested changes for component layouts.
  • Consult on the quality of new designs relative to compatibility with intended manufacturing processes.
  • Support and/or facilitate Manufacturing Transition & Build Plan (MT&BP), Design to Cost Plus (DTC+), and Producibility Tenets; assist activities involving variability reduction to mitigate process and product risk (DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plan, etc.).
  • Work autonomously with limited oversight from management while influencing others regarding policies, practices, and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field.
  • Minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field.
  • Experience in a manufacturing engineering environment.
  • Experience in GD&T, reading blueprints, and creating work instructions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Self‑directed with strong planning and organizational skills, able to adapt to changing priorities and assignments.
  • Exposure to ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Knowledge of practical application of APQP principles.
  • Strong peer leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to drive improvement utilizing Design for Manufacturing tools and concepts.
  • Experience with engineering programs such as CAD, Additive Manufacturing (3D printing), and Solid Works.
  • Familiarity with government and regulatory body requirements (FAA, FDA, DOE, DoD, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
