Job PurposeWorking as a member of the product management team the product cost manager will help with product cost management for locomotive products, including existing products, new product development and locomotive proposals. Partnering with multiple functions (engineering, supply chain, finance, sourcing, product management) to drive the completion of cost out projects. Support cost analysis for proposal activity.

Key Job Elements Minimum Duties and Responsibilities- Prepare comprehensive cost analysis reports for multiple locomotive projects.
- Collaborate with other departments to gather cost data, track cost out project execution, review milestones with key stakeholders, and elevate as needed.
- Support product inquiry team, providing cost out estimates.
- Assess cost implications of product changes to production and aftermarket.
- Track copper and steel fluctuation.
- Contribute to proposal analysis, identifying cost gaps and cost out opportunities.
- Serve as a change agent by challenging status quo and supporting continuous improvement.
- Track impact of commodity fluctuations to product cost.
- College degree (BA/BS).
- 3-5 years of rail experience.
- Project, Product, Cost Management or Manufacturing experience.
- Proven ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Strong collaborative, interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work across multiple functions.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving skills to solve common problems.
- Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing and operations standard processes and basic product knowledge.
- Locomotive product knowledge.
- Previous experience in a Program/ Project/Product Management role.
- Previous experience in OEM manufacturing or engineering design.
- Strength – Position typically involves office managerial work as well as oversight in an industrial environment. Frequently standing, sitting, and walking. Occasional light to medium‑level lifting (up to 30 pounds).
- Motion – Position regularly requires standard motions associated with an office environment as well as standard motions associated with leading and demonstrating in an industrial environment.
- Vision/Hearing Requirements – Constant verbal communications, including both talking and hearing.
- Work Environment – Position will occasionally require the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Position may involve work in a non‑temperature‑controlled environment. Position is in an industrial.
