Staff Accountant; Harrah's Joliet

Job Summary

We’re looking for a detail‑driven and motivated accounting professional to join our team and take ownership of month‑end close and financial reporting. In this role, you’ll ensure accuracy, compliance, and audit readiness while partnering with leadership to analyze financial data and support key business decisions in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.

• Prepare month‑end journal entries.
• Perform detailed month‑end income statements and sheet reviews for all accounts and departments.
• Prepare monthly balance‑sheet reconciliations by the 15th of each month and ensure financial data is presented accurately.
• Generate monthly standard reporting and unique ad‑hoc analysis.
• Maintain adequate supporting documentation for journal entries and reconciliations for internal and external audit purposes.
• Analyze balance‑sheet variances.
• Ensure departmental processes comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and safeguard assets.
• Track fixed‑asset additions and retirements and maintain supporting documentation for fixed assets and capital projects.
• Assist in the annual financial and capital budget plan process.
• Interact with senior management during month‑end close and departmental financial reviews.
• Serve as secondary payroll and receiving specialist as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting and/or relevant work experience.
• Strong analytical abilities and ability to work independently.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

• Physically mobile with ability to lift up to 20 lbs. and perform required movements (push, pull, bend, reach, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel, balance).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Salary: $50K–$60K, based on experience.
