Fraud Analyst

  • Compensation: $28-32 per hour
ABOUT

THE ROLE

The Fraud Analyst is responsible for monitoring and investigating suspicious activity from multiple sources to control the risk of fraud losses for our banking institution client. This role involves processing and reviewing transactional fraud alerts, new account applications, and fraud claims across various platforms, as well as conducting due diligence on accounts and reporting unusual activity. The Fraud Analyst communicates regularly with banks to minimize exposure, recover funds, and report fraud activity, ensuring all job duties are completed in accordance with policies, procedures, applicable federal regulations, and service level agreements under the principles of the Operations Mission Statement.

The position requires flexibility to work in a hybrid environment with core hours between 6am and 6pm, Monday through Friday, and rotational Saturday shifts.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Monitor and investigate suspicious banking activity to control fraud risk and losses
  • Process and review incoming and outgoing transactional fraud alerts (Check, Deposit, ACH, P2P, B2B, Wires, Loan) in Verafin daily
  • Process and review new account applications in Alloy
  • Handle and review new and existing MSX/check fraud claims and disputes in the Case Management System
  • Review positive pay items each day and resolve or elevate to customers as needed
  • Identify and report suspected kiting activity as required
  • Monitor branch fraud reports and perform extra due diligence on accounts to control risk to the bank
  • Review and investigate any other unusual account activity as warranted
  • Complete all required compliance training on schedule
  • Participate in personal development and training opportunities
  • Support other teams in the Information Security, Security, and Fraud departments as needed
  • Communicate regularly with banks to minimize exposure, recover funds, and report fraud activity
  • Ensure all duties are performed in accordance with policies, procedures, federal regulations, and service level agreements
WHAT YOU BRING
  • 2+ years’ experience in fraud, fraud claims, fraud disputes, loss prevention, BSA-AML, banking operations, banking retail, compliance risk management, or law enforcement
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with Fraud Case Management systems (e.g., Verafin, Alloy, Actimize, ACI, FIS Falcon)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other Office programs
  • Strong attention to detail, decision making, and problem solving skills
  • Proficient use of keyboard and numeric keypad
  • Ability to move between workloads and fraud typologies
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment (3 days in office per week)
  • Ability to work core hours between 6am to 6pm, Monday - Friday, with varying start times (6am, 7am, or 8am)
  • Commitment to completing all relevant compliance training and participating in ongoing personal development
