Senior Vice President, Commercial Banker
Location: Whiteside County, IL |
Work Arrangement: In-Office Reports To: Chief Lending Officer
We're looking for an experienced commercial banking leader to join our team as Senior Vice President, Commercial Banker. This is a high-impact role for a proven relationship banker who is ready to combine individual production with team leadership — you'll manage and grow your own commercial portfolio while directly mentoring and developing other lenders on day one.
This isn't a role where mentoring is a future possibility — it's built into the position from the start, and it's a clear signal of the trust and runway we're offering. High performers in this seat have a defined path to advance further within the bank's leadership structure.
What You'll Do- Own and grow a commercial loan portfolio. Originate, underwrite, and manage commercial and industrial (C&I), commercial real estate (CRE), and agribusiness relationships across Whiteside County and the surrounding market.
- Mentor other lenders from day one. Provide hands-on coaching to less experienced commercial bankers and credit staff — reviewing deal structures, sharing underwriting judgment, and helping them build client relationships the right way.
- Develop new business. Proactively identify and cultivate relationships with local businesses, developers, and community leaders to bring new commercial lending opportunities to the bank.
- Structure sound credit. Partner with credit administration to structure deals that balance client needs with sound risk management.
- Represent the bank in the community. Serve as a visible, trusted presence at community events, chamber functions, and civic organizations to strengthen the bank's local reputation and referral network.
- Contribute to strategy. Work closely with senior leadership on portfolio growth strategy, pricing, and market positioning as you take on greater responsibility.
- 7+ years of commercial banking experience, with a demonstrated track record of portfolio growth and sound credit quality.
- Prior experience mentoring, coaching, or informally leading other lenders or junior staff.
- Strong credit and underwriting acumen across C&I, CRE, and/or agricultural lending.
- Deep ties to, or strong familiarity with Whiteside County
- A collaborative leadership style — someone who leads by example and genuinely enjoys developing talent, not just closing deals.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Immediate leadership impact. You'll shape how other lenders approach credit and client relationships from your first weeks on the job — not after years of tenure.
- A clear runway. This SVP seat is structured as a growth path, with the opportunity to advance into broader leadership as you demonstrate results.
- A community-rooted bank. Be part of an institution deeply invested in the businesses and families of Whiteside County, with the autonomy to build your book the way you know works.
- In-office culture. This role is fully in-office, reflecting our belief that the best coaching, client work, and team development happen in person, side by side with the people you're building relationships with — both clients and colleagues.
