Job Summary The Tele-sitter provides continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients via video-monitoring. Interacts with individual patients while "rounding". Provides verbal redirection to prevent patients from engaging in at risk behaviors and notifying the nursing staff if patient requires assistance. The Tele-sitter carries out various clinical responsibilities as well as documentation of tasks and supports and upholds the Patient Bill of Rights.

JOB SPECIFIC
COMPETENCIES:
Demonstrates the required job specific technical/professional knowledge, skills and abilities
- Monitors and observes up to 15 patients on one screen at one time and remains alert while on duty
- Maintains visual observation of patients at all times and communicates effectively using a microphone and headset
- Communicates with hospital staff and responds quickly to patient and behavioral changes
- Uses basic computer operation skills
- Provides assistance to patients while “rounding”, including toileting
- Collects data and charts observations and activities, reporting pertinent changes in the patient’s condition to the Registered Nurse.
- Complies with hospital safety regulations, environment of care, risk management, and infection control policies. Assists in maintaining and providing a clean, safe environment.
- Performs delegated or other specialized functions as educationally prepared.

- Demonstrates the ability to create a positive interaction with the customer.
- Maintains the dignity and confidentiality of the patient; serves as patient advocate.
- Utilizes positive communication skills when interacting with people of different cultures, values and beliefs.
- Demonstrates the ability to acknowledge customer concerns and takes corrective action.
- Demonstrates compliance with identified customer service behaviors.
- Provides escort to customers when necessary.
PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT:
- Participates in Department/Hospital-wide activities which improve processes and/or outcomes.
- Utilizes resources to maintain and improve self development and knowledge.
- Complies with licensure and/or certification requirements.
- Participates in annual competency assessment.
BUDGET:
- Demonstrates fiscally prudent use of equipment and supplies.
- Utilizes charge process for supplies/equipment.
PROJECTS/ASSIGNMENTS:
- Completes projects/assignments within projected time frames and expectations.
- Participates in committees and task forces as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned within classification.
- Assists with the orientation process of new PCAs.
