Information Security
- Develop, enhance, and maintain internal security systems and tools to ensure rapid detection and response to emerging threats and attack methods.
- Investigate security incidents by analyzing complex data from various security tools, logs, and monitoring systems to identify malicious activities or vulnerabilities.
- Design and implement advanced detection mechanisms across Appian's infrastructure, including network, application, and cloud environments, to proactively identify potential security issues.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments of infrastructure components, applications, and processes, providing actionable recommendations to mitigate identified vulnerabilities.
- Lead specific security engineering initiatives aimed at improving intrusion detection capabilities, vulnerability scanning, and incident response processes.
- Collaborate with product development teams to integrate security best practices into the design, development, and deployment of new features and services.
- Assist in creating and updating security policies, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal security requirements.
- Support incident response efforts by analyzing security breaches, documenting findings, and recommending improvements to prevent future incidents.
- Stay current with the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and industry trends, sharing insights with the team to enhance overall security awareness.
- Contribute to the development of security documentation, reports, and presentations for internal stakeholders and management.
- Participate in security audits, assessments, and testing activities to validate the effectiveness of existing controls.
- Engage in continuous learning and professional development to deepen expertise in cybersecurity, cloud security, and AI-related security challenges.
- Assist in the automation of security processes and workflows to improve efficiency and accuracy in threat detection and response.
- Support the organization's compliance efforts related to security standards and regulations, including ITAR considerations if applicable.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, engineering, and compliance, to ensure security measures are integrated seamlessly into overall business operations.
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Computer Science, Cybersecurity Engineering, or Computer Engineering, with a strong academic record.
- Relevant internship, co‑op, or project experience in cybersecurity engineering, threat analysis, or related fields.
- Proficiency in programming or scripting languages such as Java, Python, or C/C++.
- Solid understanding of network fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and common internet protocols.
- Familiarity with security tools, logging systems, and monitoring platforms used for threat detection and incident response.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex security data and logs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of documenting findings and explaining technical concepts clearly.
