We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead and optimize all aspects of supply chain operations. This role has full responsibility for a single site and oversees distribution, packaging, and transportation activities. The General Manager will drive performance, safety, and profitability while building a strong culture of continuous improvement and associate development during the start-up and stabilization phases.
Location: Joliet, IL
Work Schedule: This is a full-time role requiring flexibility and extended hours to support a high-volume distribution center.
Travel Specifics: Up to 15%
Competitive Compensation: Attractive annual salary of $125,000–$150,000 plus a performance-based bonus, along with a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and more.
What You’ll Do- Lead day-to-day operations across warehousing, distribution, packaging, and transportation.
- Establish and execute short- and long-term operational goals aligned with organizational objectives.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Manage operating budgets and maintain full P&L responsibility for the site.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service levels, efficiency, and profitability.
- Oversee and enforce safety programs to protect associates, equipment, and property.
- Develop staffing plans, manage labor costs, and improve retention and engagement.
- Monitor performance metrics, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare and present weekly and monthly operational reports.
- Build strong customer relationships and deliver a consistent, high-performance experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience as a General Manager in a distribution, warehousing, or logistics environment.
- Demonstrated success managing start-up operations with full P&L responsibility.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of developing and retaining teams.
- Experience consistently meeting or exceeding customer-defined KPIs in a third-party environment.
- Background supporting large-scale clients within a third-party logistics operation.
- Solid understanding of co-packing operations and high-volume food distribution.
- Knowledge of warehouse automation and material handling systems.
- Familiarity with pallet in/pallet out operating models.
- Ability to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Prior experience within a third-party logistics (3PL) environment.
- Background in continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization.
- Strong analytical skills related to budgeting, forecasting, and performance metrics.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume start-up environment.
