The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for managing, delegating, coordinating, and providing nursing care through the nursing process. The nurse utilizes effective communication skills with patients, their families, and multidisciplinary health care team members. Within the scope of practice the nurse assumes responsibility, as necessary, for the assessment, treatment, and care of patients of all ages (neonate to geriatric). The nurse demonstrates an understanding of developmental needs when planning and implementing care and competency in interpreting patient behavior based on cognitive, biopsychosocial, and cultural factors.
The Registered Nurse is accountable for maintaining clinical competence to reach defined standards of care for the area of nursing practice.
