Job Summary

The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for managing, delegating, coordinating and providing nursing care through utilization of the nursing process. The candidate will communicate effectively with patients, significant others, and members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team. Work includes assessment, treatment, and care of patients of all ages (neonate to geriatric). The nurse demonstrates competency in understanding developmental needs, behavioral interpretation, and cultural aging processes, maintaining clinical competence to reach defined standards of care.

  • Systematically provide nursing care to patients within the framework of the nursing process and established standards of practice.
  • Integrate principles of patient safety in the provision of direct nursing care and medication management.
  • Adhere to established system-wide communication standards and processes.
  • Participate in designated forums that address patient care, patient education, policy and procedures, safety, and clinical outcomes.
  • Maintain and improve professional knowledge and skill in the area of practice.

Qualifications
  • Associate Degree required (Bachelor degree preferred).
  • 1 year Med/Surg experience preferred.
  • National certification in area of practice preferred.
Certifications & Licensure
  • Valid RN license with NYSNA CBA (New York State Board  of Nursing).
  • BLS – Basic Life Support (American Heart Association).
  • ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support (American Heart Association) – required for ED, SICU, MICU, 3 Doctors, Cath Lab, Endo, Labor & Delivery, Nursing Radiology, SDS (within 6months of hire) and PACU (within 3months).
  • PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support (American Heart Association) – required for ED, Nursing Radiology, SDS (within 6months) and PACU (within 3months).
  • NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program (American Heart Association) – required for Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby, NICU (within 6months).
  • ONS/ONCC – Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certificate.
  • Infusion Center – Oncology Nursing Society Fundamentals of Administration – required.
