Job Description

Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) responsible for determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results. The role supports plasma center operations under the guidance of the Center Manager and Center Physician. Familiarity with plasma collection industry regulations and manufacturing environments is required. The position follows SOPs for medical emergencies and supports employee safety and vaccination programs.

Requires availability nights and weekends. Standard coverage hours are 5:00am–9:00pm weekdays and 6:00am–5:00pm weekends.

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
• Manage donor adverse events and evaluate donor reactions per SOPs.
• Follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of Center Physician standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for medical/technical issues or unacceptable findings to donors.
• Support hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation as required by occupational health/ER, referencing EHS guidance.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats.

• High school diploma or equivalent; graduate equivalent of a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
• Active EMT‑I license (EMT‑Paramedic) and currently licensed in the state of assignment.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Basic IV therapy certification meeting state requirements.
• Completion of FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years clinical or hospital experience.

Hourly wage range: $25.20 – $34.65. Actual wage may vary based on qualifications and experience. Eligible for up to 80 hours of sick time per calendar year and up to 120 hours of paid vacation upon hire.
