Job Title: Lead Locate Technician
Job Description:
In order to obtain employment with Grid Hawk LLC, candidates must complete a background check with no violations within the last three years. Candidates must also take and pass a DOT drug test.
All employees of Grid Hawk LLC are assigned proper technology and work vehicles to perform all work-related duties. We will provide you the tools you need to achieve, including:
- Company vehicle, laptop, and smartphone
- All personal protective equipment provided
Responsibilities:
- Lead a group of assigned employees, maintaining and protecting coverage area while following company policies and safety regulations.
- Accurately locate underground facilities, including telephone lines, electric power lines, cable TV lines, gas lines, fiber optic lines, water lines, and sewer lines.
- Assist in leading the team to accomplish location goals.
- Observe, locate, mark, and document underground and exposed utility locations using multiple methods.
- Dispatch locating technicians to locate and verify for utility customers.
- Ensure area compliance with client and state requirements.
- Oversee daily scheduling of contractors and sub-contractors.
- Route tickets to ensure optimized efficiency.
- Develop a game plan to achieve daily production targets and provide help if needed.
- Review prior days’ documents and reports.
- Review daily expectations and safety messages and adjust as needed.
- Audit documents and ensure compliance with client regulations.
- Establish client quality assurance and resolve problems if needed.
- Ensure team members’ timesheets are correct and all members are accounted for.
- Locate underground facilities by using a transmitter and connecting to buried facilities.
- Work in varied terrain, in and around construction zones and residential, commercial, industrial, rural areas, in all weather conditions.
- Interpret job order tickets, blueprints, and maps to efficiently route and perform duties.
- Perform locates and emergency/on-call locates during regular, overtime, and holiday hours as necessary.
- Perform all work in a timely, professional, and efficient manner while effectively communicating with customers, co-employees, and third parties.
- Communicate with management team, contractor, and utility customer to ensure a damage-free environment.
- Maintain knowledge of technology and tools needed.
- Work with others in a supervised team environment.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalency (GED).
- Multiple years of utility locating experience.
- Documentation of an excellent quality ratio within the locating industry.
- Knowledge and experience using multiple types of utility locating equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read, interpret, and decipher multiple types of prints.
- Vacuum truck experience (A+).
- Ability to lift over 50 lbs.
- Ability to walk/stand for multiple hours a day.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret prints at a high level.
- Pass a background screening (no violations within the last 3 years).
- Pass a DOT drug test.
