Maintenance Technician / Mechanic

JOB SUMMARYThe main purpose of this position is to maintain and repair all equipment to meet minimum standards set forth by the Department of Transportation. The technician must also meet the standards of Werner Enterprises and its subsidiaries. This safety-sensitve role involves regular maintenance and troubleshooting of tractor/trailer systems.

- Remove and replace brakes, brake drums, hubs, seals, bearings, races, and associated parts.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and lighting systems and components.
- Repair or replace chassis components such as springs, spring hangers, equalizers, complete slider assemblies, axles, sub-frames, and air system components.
- Repair or replace ICCs, ICC braces, mud flap brackets, dolly leg assemblies, and other components by welding or cutting with an oxy-acetylene torch.
- Repair or replace flooring, rub rails, doors, door trim, and minor repairs to roofs, panels, nose panels, lower and upper rails, and other parts.
- Service and maintain refrigerated units, including oil and filter changes and other minor engine components.
- Keep the personal area clean during and at the end of each shift.
- Assist with tasks outside those listed above.
- Maintain timely and regular attendance as scheduled.
- Comprehensive knowledge of all tractor/trailer systems preferred.
- Proficiency with hand tools ranging from simple wrenches to pneumatic tools.
- Ability to use a MIG welder, plasma cutter, and oxy-acetylene torch preferred.
- Ability to lift in excess of 75 lbs.
- Minimum 3 months of mechanical experience preferred.
- Basic understanding of tools.
The expected starting pay range for this position is $20.33 - $27.11 per hour, based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
