The Automation Maintenance Technician team is part of the Customer Operations organization, responsible for leading day‑to‑day operations of Symbotic’s robotic material‑handling system. The organization drives operational excellence by working with onsite customers to deliver quality, safety and system performance.
What you’ll doPerform inspections and maintenance on Automated Storage and Retrieval System components, including automated robotic vehicles and Automated Adapters/Lifts.
- Adjust, calibrate, repair, replace or modify system components to maintain continuous operation.
- Process and monitor the flow of the automated storage and retrieval system to maximize throughput.
- Troubleshoot robotic vehicle anomalies and stoppages using schematics and wiring diagrams with advanced test equipment.
- Conduct periodic inspections within expected durations, documenting all actions, parts used and labor.
- Record maintenance and completion data via the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Communicate production‑impacting problems and recommend actions with estimated corrective and emergency maintenance times.
- Clean equipment, remove replaced parts and ensure 5S compliance.
- Recover automated robotic vehicles in the Symbotic Matrix system, working in restrictive environments.
- Perform minor utility work such as machining holes, cutting steel, aligning sensors, attaching Unistrut, and setting up robotic arms.
- Carry out cell operator functions as needed.
- Associate degree and/or certification in electronics, automotive, automation, manufacturing, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with mechanical automation systems or equivalent educational/training.
- Advanced mechanical troubleshooting skills with ability to follow electro‑mechanical diagrams.
- Proficiency with PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) knowledge and troubleshooting.
- Ability to operate and run automated systems independently, following procedures and manuals.
Work conditions include steep stairs, high rafters, temperatures ranging from 32°F to 105°F, and heights up to 45 feet. Protective equipment such as hard hats, safety vests, steel toes, eye protection, ear protection, and fall protection (safety harness) is required. Regular lifting of items up to 80 pounds and daily walking, reaching, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be necessary. Lock‑out/tag‑out and other safety protocols must be strictly followed.

The base range for this position is $29.00 - $35.00 per hour and may vary. Compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, 401K, PTO and other benefits.
