The James
B. Moran Center for Youth Advocacy’s(“Moran Center”) Mental Health Professional intervenes with clients at a point of legal crisis in an attempt to help improve the overall functioning of the youth and their families within multiple life domains, including home, school, and the community. Using their clinical expertise, the Mental Health Professional provides trauma-informed and healing-centered services to the Moran Center’s legal clients and their families.
The Mental Health Professional reports to the Director of Social Work Services.
- Provides direct therapeutic counseling, case management, and crisis management to identified clients, including maintenance of clients’ confidential mental health records;
- Drafts mitigation reports for both youth and emerging adult criminal proceedings;
- Provides support and advocacy for youth and emerging adults during court proceedings;
- Collaborates with internal and external legal professionals on behalf of clients;
- Supports youth referred through the City of Evanston’s Juvenile Administrative Hearings and through the Skokie Courthouse Juvenile Diversion Program for counseling and other supportive services;
- Supervises mental health professional interns, when appropriate; and
- Tracks client progress in Legal Server and provides outcomes to the Director of Social Work Services, upon request;
- Participates in internal trainings, one-on-one and group supervision, and other professional development opportunities.
- Participates in all-staff meetings and contributes to a collaborative, inclusive, and values-aligned workplace; and
- Represents the Moran Center within the community, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s in Social Work or related field with clinical licensure preferred.
$60,000 - $77,000 annualized salary
