POSITION
PURPOSE:
Responsible for the scheduling and follow through of PO's to be picked up by the driver. Includes direct communication with vendors, buyers, dispatchers, and drivers to ensure completion.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
- Contacts vendor confirms order pickup details and notifies vendor of pickup date changes.
- Completes incoming and un-booked reports and transportation logs in a timely manner.
- Completes packets with necessary information (load details, manifest and labels) for drivers.
- Delivers packets to Transportation and/or Receiving office.
- Collects and processes packets from previous days backhaul.
- Files return manifest sheets, completes daily and weekly recap summary and forwards to regional routing.
- Informs supervisor/manager of any discrepancies in paperwork or policy violations.
- Checks pool to ensure there are no remaining purchase orders outstanding.
- Ensures all backhauls are picked up and tracks all backhaul PORC documents in a timely manner.
- Notifies inbound logistics regarding overflow pallets of 10 or more.
- Performs other relevant job duties as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Detail oriented, good organizational skills.
- Capable of maintaining written records and completing required forms in timely manner.
- Ability to build solid and accurate pallet count.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Understanding of safety guidelines.
- Ability to communicate and work well with others.
- Astute, close attention to detail.
- Should have strong knowledge of routes and all transportation procedures.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/DEMANDS:
- Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.
- Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal.
- While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly to sit; use hands to type, grasp and for fine manipulation; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- Incumbent may use calculations, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment during normal workday.
- Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.
- Exposed to temperatures on rare occasions ranging from
-20 degrees to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in perishable operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in grocery operation. - Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
