Job Title

Forklift Material Handler

Shift Schedule

D‑Sunday‑Wednesday 4:00 PM – 2:30 AM

Pay

$23.00 – $24.00 per hour

Pay

Incentives:

  • Attendance Incentive – up to $2400 bonus for good attendance.
  • Referral Bonus – up to $500 per referral.
  • Hiring Bonus – up to $1000.
  • Step Increase Program – pay will increase by $0.50 after 90 days and again after 180 days (Material Handlers only).
  • Certified/qualified Forklift/Walkie Rider/Cherry Picker drivers – additional $0.50 per hour.
  • Certified/qualified Reach Truck drivers – additional $1.00 per hour.

Job Purpose:

To operate forklifts safely and efficiently for the VAS department; handle all freight inbound or outbound properly and orderly; maintain warehouse area with orderly stacking and good housekeeping; loading/unloading of RJW truck/trailers and outside carriers safely using proper procedures; ensure all shipments are correctly staged, checked, and loaded properly; responsible for properly storing stock in the warehouse; perform duties to provide material handling services for warehouse shipping and receiving handling activities.

Works from warehouse operations sheets using a forklift to pick customer orders and load on trailers. Always maintains forklift safety following all safety policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist Warehouse Manager to ensure efficient operation of the warehouse.
  • Operate sit‑down forklift.
  • General understanding of computers and handheld RF equipment.
  • Load and unload RJW truck/trailers safely and efficiently using proper procedures, including outside carriers’ equipment.
  • Flexible to work 10 to 12‑hour shifts when necessary and not afraid of heights.
  • Picking and moving stock from 1 lb. to 50 lb., multiple times.
  • Ensure all shipments are correctly staged and loaded properly.
  • Maintain warehouse area with orderly stacking and good housekeeping.
  • Process outbound cross‑dock freight as necessary.
  • Oversee storing stock properly in the warehouse and moving product into the storage racks.
  • Work from warehouse operations sheets using a forklift to pick customer orders and load on trailers.
  • Record and verify the accuracy of the shipments against the paperwork for incoming and outgoing shipments/deliveries.
  • Ensure all documentation and paperwork is properly completed.
  • Operate forklifts safely and efficiently following all OSHA regulations, RJW safety policies, and procedures.
  • Always wear seat‑belts when operating the forklift.
  • Complete daily forklift maintenance inspections.
  • Handle all customer products properly and orderly.
  • Check deliveries for poor packing, general condition of materials, and free of damage. Alert Warehouse Supervisor of any problems, taking pictures if necessary.
  • Report all accidents/incidents to employees, damage of stock, or building damage to the Shift Supervisor immediately.
  • Spot trailers to maintain efficient yard organization and flow of equipment for the day.
  • Maintain access to dock doors both inside and outside the facility keeping them free of debris or snow.
  • Other tasks as assigned by manager.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Possess a sense of urgency, accountability, and be able to work with limited supervision.
  • General understanding of computers and handheld RF equipment.
  • Read, write, and understand English.
  • Attention to detail and quality.
  • Good communication, clear and concise, problem‑resolution, and people skills.
  • Flexibility in working overtime when needed and supplying coverage to other shifts.
  • PC skills are helpful.
  • Major experience with forklifts.
  • Experience in building pallets with stock and breaking down stock to fill independent orders.
  • Experience in cross‑docking freight process.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced warehouse.
Qualifications
  • 1+ years of forklift driving experience in a warehouse using a forklift (reach, walkie rider, sit‑down, cherry/order picker).
  • Good, stable work record.
Education and Experience Required
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
  • Warehousing certifications a plus.
Language Skills
  • Communicate, read, write, and speak English.
