Position Summary:
Arkansas State University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry specializing in Inorganic Chemistry. The term is one year with the possibility of renewal.
The faculty member will be housed in the Department of Chemistry and Physics in the Beck College of Sciences and Mathematics. Preference is given to candidates who are engaging and innovative teachers and have demonstrated commitment to excellence in STEM education.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will have a substantial background in inorganic chemistry. The candidate will be responsible for teaching two inorganic chemistry courses and foundation level courses during the semester plus contributing to departmental level service.
* To independently plan and deliver lectures and laboratories, develop course assignments and grade student work.
* To advise and mentor students on academic paths and career matters.
* To update and revise current course materials, in addition to developing new courses or programs as needed.
* To support the Department through committee service.

Prior teaching as instructor of record.
Ability to work as an effective team member.
Experience mentoring and facilitating student groups.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
An earned PhD in inorganic, (ABD will be considered).
Articulated evidence of interest in teaching from an active learning framework.
Ability to teach the range of topics in intermediate and advanced inorganic chemistry with corresponding labs
Evidence of being an effective teacher.
