Position Summary:

The Associate Dean for Admissions and Student Programs is responsible for overseeing admissions and student programs for the College of Veterinary Medicine. This will be a faculty position with a 60-70% administrative (service), 10-30% teaching, and 0-10% scholarly activity appointment. Teaching assignment will be in alignment with candidate's subject matter expertise.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Lead academic and admissions procedures for the CVM
  • Liaise with University offices to ensure smooth integration of CVM student programs and admissions with University offices (e.g., admissions, students, registrar)
  • Contribute to course and exam schedule for the DVM program
  • Lead DVM program admissions and student support personnel
  • Coordinate recruitment, admission, advancement, and retention of veterinary students
  • Liaise with pre-veterinary advisors and programs, including traveling to other Universities or pre-veterinary meetings
  • Oversee student clubs and scholarships.
  • Oversee student events, including orientation, white coat ceremony, graduation, awards banquet, and career fair
  • Oversee faculty advising and mentoring of students
  • Provide oversight of Admissions and Student Ethics and Professionalism Committees
  • Contribute to accreditation reports
  • Provide community outreach regarding student programs and student success
  • Teach DVM students

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, deliver results in a timely manner, and function independently

Hours:
  • Monday - Friday
  • 8:00 a.m.

    - 5:00 p.m.
  • Additional hours as requested and/or needed

Minimum Qualifications:
  • DVM or other doctoral degree in a relevant field
  • 2 years of academic administrative experience
  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills
  • Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or parts of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee
