Assistant Professor of Dance and Choreography Tenure Track

The Assistant Professor of Dance and Choreography Tenure Track position is a full-time, on-site role located in Jonesboro, AR. The faculty member will teach undergraduate dance courses in areas such as technique, choreography, dance theory, and related subjects, and will advise and mentor students in their academic and artistic development. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and delivering course content, assessing student performance, holding office hours, and contributing to curriculum development in dance and choreography.

The role also involves creating original choreographic works, directing or collaborating on performances, and maintaining an active record of scholarly or creative activity. The Assistant Professor will participate in department and university service, including committee work, recruitment activities, and engagement with the broader arts community.

• Teaching a 4/4 load, which typically includes three academic courses and one production course (directing/choreographing). Other possible courses include, but are not limited to, Theatre Appreciation, Ballet, Musical Theatre Dance, Jazz Dance, Tap Dance, Folk and other Dance courses as determined by the faculty member's area(s) of specialty and expertise.
• Maintaining an active record of research and/or creative activity
• Overseeing the Stage Manager for shows when directing.
• Attending evening/weekend rehearsals as appropriate
• Mentoring and supervising student choreographers and dance captains.
• Being available for student supervision during evening and weekend rehearsals and performances
• Working collegially and collaboratively with students and faculty.

• Experience directing theatrical productions.
• Experience teaching Theatre for non-majors.
• Experience teaching ballet or other foundational dance techniques.
• Membership in professional organizations such as SETC, ACDA, or MTEA.

  Stage Combat, Movement for Actors, Yoga, Non-Western Dance Techniques
