Job Overview
Georgia‑Pacific’s Anchor Packaging Operations is hiring Manufacturing Engineers for its Jonesboro, AR facility. The role ensures performance and efficiency of production assets across the plant, monitoring asset KPIs, supporting reliability issues, and developing long‑term strategies for equipment management.
Reporting to the Operations Leader, the position works closely with technical engineering, maintenance execution, and corporate teams. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
What You Will Do- Develop and implement comprehensive asset strategies for assigned assets, including operating envelope, operator basic care, parts strategy, optimization, condition‑based monitoring, predictive & preventative maintenance.
- Lead efforts to improve asset performance and reliability in safety, environmental compliance, quality, utilization/efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
- Work with operators and maintenance to identify critical equipment hazards and mitigate human‑error risks.
- Communicate with employees to connect them to the vision, priorities, and business objectives.
- Coaching operators on safe equipment operation, operator basic care, operating parameters, equipment changes/upgrades, and best practices.
- Collaborate with operators and customers to troubleshoot process, quality, and equipment issues and evaluate and implement improvement ideas.
- Partner with shift supervision to identify knowledge/opportunity gaps and help develop/update operating procedures.
- Lead Root Cause Analysis process and execute effective corrective actions.
- Evaluate, approve, and prioritize equipment repairs and scheduled shutdowns; initiate capital projects as needed.
- Partner with Learning & Development to support employee qualification.
- Perform GEMBA walks to improve employee engagement and maintenance performance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other technical discipline, or 4 years in a manufacturing/industrial operations environment in lieu of a degree.
- Experience building asset strategy, with root cause analysis and overall troubleshooting.
- Experience with manufacturing equipment set‑up, operation, or repair.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and/or Project).
- Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States without visa transfer or sponsorship.
- Experience in thermoforming, sheet extrusion, packaging, or plastics manufacturing.
- Experience with automation, conveyor & vision systems, and/or robotics.
- Experience initiating and/or executing engineering projects.
