Controller, Finance & Banking, Financial Reporting

Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead the accounting organization in Jonesboro, Arkansas. This role will guide financial reporting, strengthen operational accounting practices, and ensure accurate, timely delivery of key financial information. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise along with the leadership skills needed to coach a team, improve performance, and support the business with sound financial oversight.

Responsibilities:

- Direct daily accounting activities and maintain reliable, timely financial reporting across the organization.

- Lead the monthly closing cycle, including review of journal entries, reconciliations, and the preparation of financial statements and management reports.

- Establish, monitor, and enhance internal controls to protect financial integrity and support compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.

- Oversee cost accounting processes and evaluate financial results to help leadership understand performance drivers and operational trends.

- Coordinate audit activities and regulatory reporting requirements, ensuring accurate documentation and prompt resolution of issues.

- Develop the accounting team through coaching, performance feedback, thoughtful delegation, and clear accountability for results.

- Identify resource gaps, workflow challenges, and process bottlenecks early, then implement corrective actions to keep accounting operations on track.

- Partner with business leaders to support decision-making with accurate financial analysis, disciplined reporting practices, and responsive accounting support. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.

- Significant experience leading accounting operations in a Controller or senior accounting leadership capacity.

- Strong command of month-end close procedures, journal entry review, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.

- Demonstrated knowledge of internal controls, audit coordination, regulatory reporting, and accounting policy compliance.

- Experience with cost accounting and the ability to interpret financial results in a business operations environment.

- Proven success managing and developing accounting staff through coaching, delegation, and performance management.

- Excellent analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills with a high level of accuracy and accountability.
