Qualifications
- Minimum of one-year experience in a customer service setting, preferably six months receptionist experience in a health‑care setting, and experience with office equipment.
- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
- Normal office environment; close eye work; vision must be corrected to 20/20.
- Hearing of normal & soft tones.
- Sitting for 7–8 hours/day; required to stand, walk, use fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, controls.
- Requires hand‑eye coordination and finger dexterity.
- Reach with hands and arms; lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
- May be exposed to airborne particles.
- Must be able to view computer screens for long periods.
- Occasional stress related to workload and customers with problems.
Greet patients and arrange for the efficient and orderly registration of patients. Ensure that accurate patient and insurance information is collected and that patients are made aware of clinic policies and procedures. Answer telephone and billing questions from patients. Process medical records requests, information requests, and general patient account functions. Work with and have access to confidential patient information. The position requires making frequent decisions or actions following general procedures often without clearly defined precedents.
The position requires a high degree of mental alertness and close visual attention to details. The position requires diplomacy and a professional image and manner in dealing with patients, families, visitors, and clinic personnel. The Patient Service Representative is responsible for a positive first impression of clinic personnel as the initial point of service contact for clinic customers. This position has high contact with patients, employees, and physicians.
Attendance is an essential function of this job.
