The IT Support Services Technical Assistant is responsible for delivering high‑level, expedited technical support to our campus community. This role ensures swift resolution of IT issues, provides proactive support, and maintains a white‑glove service experience. The ideal candidate is a tech‑savvy problem‑solver with excellent communication skills and a customer‑first mindset. Additionally, the role involves assisting with documentation, research, and participation in IT‑related projects.
This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policies.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network problems via phone, chat, remote tools, or on‑site including walk‑in IT assistance as tier 1 Helpdesk support across campus
- Document issues, resolutions, and user interactions accurately in the ITSM system
- Work closely with other IT teams to escalat and resolve complex technical issues
- Assist in project management within IT Support Services
- Perform regular system checks and proactive maintenance for assigned users or systems
- Monitor open tickets and ensure SLA adherence for any support requests especially higher priority
- Assist in onboarding/offboarding of users, ensuring smooth transitions
- Provide after‑hours or on‑call support as needed, based on priority status agreements
- /Credential production and biometric enrollment
- Troubleshooting access/s
- Assist with building access audits on‑site
- Assist with POS system installation, updates, and maintenance
- Other duties as assigned

Hours:
Part Time – 28 hours max per week. Days and times are flexible. Working hours between 8‑5 from Monday to Friday. Regular and reliable attendance.
Other:This position is an on‑site role at Arkansas State University. Telecommuting is not available for this position. Work will be performed during standard business hours at the designated campus location.
Minimum Qualifications:- Formal education equivalent of a high school diploma
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree or certification in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Technology, or related field preferred
- Basic familiarity with IT environments is beneficial but not required
- Other job‑related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval or the qualifications review committee
