Position Summary

Arkansas State University Three Rivers invites applications for a full-time Instructor of Nursing to join the Health Sciences Division. This faculty member will provide high-quality instruction in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings for students enrolled in the nursing program. The successful candidate will be committed to student success, evidence-based teaching practices, and the preparation of competent, compassionate nursing professionals.

The Instructor of Nursing will develop and deliver engaging learning experiences, assess student achievement, provide academic advising and mentoring, and collaborate with faculty and clinical partners to ensure compliance with accreditation standards and continuous program improvement. This position plays a vital role in advancing the mission of the College by promoting academic excellence, workforce readiness, and community engagement.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Teach nursing courses in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise nursing curriculum to ensure alignment with program outcomes, accreditation standards, and current nursing practice.
  • Prepare course syllabi, lesson plans, instructional materials, examinations, and learning activities that support student engagement and achievement.
  • Evaluate student performance through written assignments, examinations, clinical observations, simulation activities, and competency assessments.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of attendance, grades, clinical evaluations, competencies, and other required documentation.
  • Provide academic advising, mentoring, and support to promote student recruitment, retention, progression, and graduation.
  • Participate in curriculum review, program assessment, accreditation activities, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with student recruitment events, orientation programs, and community outreach activities.
  • Select and recommend textbooks, instructional resources, and educational technologies that enhance student learning.
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with clinical agencies and community healthcare partners.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, division meetings, college committees, and institutional governance activities.
  • Maintain current knowledge of nursing practice, educational methodologies, healthcare trends, and regulatory requirements through professional development and continuing education.
  • Review and recommend revisions to nursing program and institutional policies and procedures as appropriate.
  • Support compliance with institutional policies, state regulations, and nursing accreditation standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

General Days/Hours

Monday - Thursday 7:00 am to 5:00 pm

Teaching schedules may include early morning, evening, or clinical assignments based on program needs.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires the ability to perform the physical requirements associated with classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction, including standing for extended periods, demonstrating nursing procedures, lifting or assisting with patient-care activities as appropriate, and traveling to assigned clinical sites.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arkansas or eligibility for Arkansas licensure prior to employment.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent clinical nursing experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, student success, and professional nursing practice.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN.
  • Previous teaching experience in a college or university nursing program.
  • Experience with clinical instruction.
  • Knowledge of nursing program accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with curriculum development, assessment, and program evaluation.
  • Certification in a nursing specialty.
