Job Description Summary

An Infusion Nurse I is a licensed registered nurse who provides basic direct patient care to patients in the home or an alternate infusion site to ensure patient safety and continuity of care under a physician’s plan of care. The role operates under close direct supervision of a designated supervisor.

Job Responsibilities
  • Initiates, develops, and implements basic nursing care plans, evaluates patient progress, administers treatments, and educates patients and caregivers.
  • Assesses patient needs and physical status at each visit, re-evaluates status, and updates treatment plans based on physician orders.
  • Provides effective teaching to patients and families to promote independence with therapy and care needs.
  • Communicates effectively with the clinical team, medical providers, and patients to facilitate continuity of care; prepares real‑time documentation and submits to the nursing department.
  • Coordinates discharge planning and prepares discharge summaries with patient instructions.
  • Complies with agency operations, company policies, professional standards, and all applicable regulations.
  • Maximizes work efficiency through use of computers and automation technologies.
  • Responds promptly to patient requests and initiates emergency procedures when necessary.
  • Acts with ethical and professional conduct, following established programs and policies.
  • Observes legal and ethical guidelines for patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • Explains Option Care’s scope of services and related financial obligations to patients.
  • Completes required training, in‑services, and continuing education to maintain competency and licensure.
  • Provides oversight and coordination of paraprofessionals and may act as supervisor in the absence of the supervisor or nurse manager.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary team conferences; provides precepting, training, and mentoring to other nurses.
  • Participates in nursing department on‑call responsibilities.
  • Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor.

Basic

Education and/or Experience
  • Active and unrestricted RN license in the state of practice.
  • 0–2 years of healthcare‑related experience.
  • Current CPR certification required.
Basic Qualifications
  • Demonstrated competency in patient care standards and infusion skill sets required for safe delivery of services.
  • Required licensure to operate a motor vehicle in the state of practice with access to a vehicle and proof of liability insurance.
  • Basic knowledge of computer operating systems and software applications with ability to apply nursing technology tools for communication and documentation.
Physical Demand Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, maximum 75 pounds; exertiate up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, or up to 10 pounds frequently; tasks include walking, standing, crouching, kneeling, turning, pivoting, balancing, stooping, reaching overhead, grasping, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying.
  • Risk of exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, hazardous substances, needles, sharps, fumes, chemicals, cold, heat, adverse weather, animals, secondhand smoke/vape, and unpredictable home environments.
  • Safety requirements include closed‑toe shoes, facemask, goggles, gown and/or gloves and a functioning device for communication.
Travel Requirements
  • Willing to travel up to 100% of the time for business purposes.
Preferred Qualifications & Interests (PQIs)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • 6 months to 1 year of experience as an LPN, Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Technician, or other care‑providing role.
Pay Range

$34.95–$58.25 per hour, determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
