Position Summary
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment, such as tractors, trailers, gasoline shovels, backhoes, front‑end loaders, and dump trucks and other heavy mechanized equipment. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Duties & Responsibilities- Adhere to the vision and guiding principles of the A‑State dept. of Finance and Administration and sort and bail recycling material
- Maintain and clean recycling building
- Maintain and service equipment in recycling area; keep lot around recycling building clean and orderly
- Help load recycled material for transport
- Service public recycling bins at FM facility
- Employees will wear daily the assigned uniform as designated in the Uniform FMOP
- Exceptions will be in writing for approval by the AVC
- Ensure all time cards, work orders and other assigned paperwork are correct and turned in on time
- Attend team meetings, open forum meetings, assigned training and any meetings the grounds manager instructs
- Ensure tools and materials needed to perform daily work assignments are accounted for and in good working order
- Develop computer knowledge and skills in Banner System, FAMIS, Blackboard, Microsoft Office Suites and general internet usage
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge of procedures for operating heavy, complex, mechanized equipment in accord with manual, safety regulations, and other instructions, and the operation of heavy equipment, driving, and moving mechanized equipment.
Ability to operate heavy, complex mechanized equipment, service and perform minor maintenance on heavy equipment, and understand and carry out oral and written directions and explanations.
Skill in the operation of heavy equipment.
General Days/Hours- Monday - Friday
- 6:00 a.m.
- 3:00 p.m. - Additional hours as requested and/or need
- Regular and reliable attendance
This position is considered Essential Personnel in Facilities Management.
Must be proficient with outside large forklift.
Able to use other forklifts, track hoes, backhoes, tractors and other heavy equipment.
Minimum Qualifications- The formal education equivalent of a High School Diploma.
- Preferred to possess a valid Driver's License.
- Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee.
