Education:

High school graduate or equivalent. Prefer individual who has completed vocational or trade school courses, organizational ability a plus.

Experience:

A background in physical plant maintenance and engineering skills required with at least 2 years experience. Must have current boiler license and/or eligible to become licensed as required by the state.

Physical:
This is a safety sensitive position. Please see the St. Bernards Substance Abuse Policy for further information. Frequently walks, use hands to finger tools or controls. Stands; sits; reaches with hands and arms; climbs or balances; stoops; kneels; crouches, or crawls; and taste and smell. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job included close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high precarious places, in outside weather conditions; and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Other:
Must be able to work flexible hours. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must be able to relate to residents, family members and staff in a courteous and diplomatic manner under all circumstances.

Job Summary:

To plan, organize, supervise, coordinate, and control the activities of the plant operations. The maintenance technician is responsible for performing tasks, which ensure the facility is maintained in excellent condition, both inside and outside the facility. This includes, but not limited to, building and grounds, painting, electrical systems per state codes, plumbing systems per state codes, water source heat pumps, all safety equipment, fire alarms, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers, emergency and exit lights.
