POSITION SUMMARY:

The College Intern provides temporary professional support to assigned district departments, schools, or programs while gaining practical work experience aligned with career and professional development goals. The internship is designed to provide meaningful exposure to educational operations, organizational practices, project-based work, and professional collaboration within a public‑school district environment. The College Intern assists with administrative, operational, programmatic, research, communications, or project support activities as assigned.

The position offers students the opportunity to apply academic learning in a professional setting while supporting district initiatives and departmental goals. This position reports to assigned Department or School Lead.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Professional Learning and Departmental Support

  • Participate in meaningful work‑based learning experiences aligned with academic coursework, career interests, and district needs.
  • Assist assigned departments, schools, or programs with projects, initiatives, research, technical work, communications, data analysis, program development, or operational support related to the intern’s field of study.
  • Apply classroom knowledge and emerging professional skills to real‑world district operations and projects.
  • Support department staff with planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of assigned initiatives and activities.
  • Collaborate with district personnel on individual and team‑based assignments designed to enhance professional growth and workplace readiness.
  • Conduct research, prepare reports, develop presentations, organize information, and assist with project deliverables as assigned.
  • Utilize technology platforms, software applications, equipment, and tools relevant to assigned departmental functions and career pathways.
  • Participate in meetings, professional learning opportunities, workshops, and organizational activities to gain exposure to district operations and leadership practices.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, communication skills, collaboration, problem solving, creativity, adaptability, and ethical conduct in a professional work environment.
  • Complete assignments and projects within established timelines and expectations.

Constant (Daily) – to exercise the duty of care and protection of the health, safety, security, welfare, well‑being, and best interests of the district’s various stakeholders.

KEY

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing an associate, bachelor’s, or graduate degree.

Previous work, volunteer, leadership, or internship experience preferred but not required.

The work performed by this position supports departmental operations, project completion, and organizational effectiveness. Accuracy, professionalism, timeliness, and confidentiality are important to maintaining efficient operations and positive stakeholder experiences.

Certifications:

None Required

Requires the ability to exercise sound judgment, follow established procedures, prioritize assigned tasks, and seek guidance when necessary.

May require communication with students, parents, community members, vendors, and external partners in a professional manner.

Requires regular communication with federal and state agencies, foundations, businesses, nonprofit organizations, community partners, vendors, and other external stakeholders regarding funding opportunities, partnerships, grant compliance, and reporting requirements.

Requires strong organizational skills, time management, initiative, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.

Requires proficiency or the ability to learn Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, email systems, spreadsheets, presentation software, and other district technology platforms.

Normal office setting. Requires travel to off‑site locations.

Light duty – On most occasions sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. Light lifting or carrying, twenty (20) lbs. or less.

Position Type: PART TIME

Salary: $15 Per Hour
